THE SUMMER SEASON
The region features a one-of-a-kind moorland landscape that is sure to awaken your desire to go for a hike or explore the area on a bike. Let the multiplicity of mountain flora inspire you to take time out to enjoy the outdoors.
HIKING
Along with the distinctive moorland landscape, you can relish the view of the Gastlosen’s rugged rock formations. The Bäderhorn, the Mittagsfluh, the Hundsrügg: Mountain peaks abound throughout the hilly landscape of the Jaun Pass and Simmen Valley and provide a real viewing treat when you’re hiking loop trails, especially during summer. With its seven stations, the Bruchmandli adventure trail provides families with a travel experience by telling the story of the diverse local habitat and the gnome Bruchmandli. The green pastures of the Bäderalp is about a 40-minute walk from the pass and offers a beautiful view of the Wildstrubel mountain peak and the surrounding mountain scenery.
CLIMBING
Without a doubt, the Gastlosen mountain range is one of the most beautiful climbing areas in the heart of Europe, featuring many exciting climbing routes with various degrees of difficulty. The Gastlosen range offers you numerous climbing routes on various faces and mountain peaks. Explore the many kilometres long limestone mountain range. The north face is home to experienced climbers in summer and features routes ranging from one to several pitches. The south face is generally less steep and climbing the Pfadflue peak and other routes is much easier. Receiving early exposure to the sun, the south side of the Pfadflue is easier to climb than the north side.
MOUNTAIN BIKING
Hop on your bike and experience terrific tours with different levels of difficulty. Enjoy the alpine panorama or undertake an activity that really helps your fitness level. From narrow, imposing high-altitude paths to single-trail descents and challenging climbs: There’s something to put a grin on each and very biker’s face.
PARAGLIDING
Soar to lofty heights and discover the Gruyère region from a bird’s-eye view. Take off high above the village of Charmey and silently glide over the Jaun Valley. Feel the wind in your face and enjoy the stunning views from an unusual perspective.
NORDIC WALKING
The Ogi path is a loop Nordic walking trail from Boltigen to Reidenbach and back that’s popular among all walkers. Following this route takes about 45 minutes.

SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING
The family ski area with a ski and snowboard school offers you an ideal location to enjoy the snow – both alone and on a tour. The free Kids Village includes a children’s lift, slope and parallel slalom, ensuring little ones will have lots of fun in the snow. Even taking rides through the ski area on a Pistenbock® or a fat bike is possible.
WINTER HIKING
Get acquainted with the snow-covered scenery around the pass by going on a snowshoe hike or experience a romantic evening stroll on the lighted loop route. Snow-covered firs and a vista formed by the Gastlosen range provide you true relaxation in the wintry mountain climate.
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
Two cross-country ski trails lead up to the pass at an elevation of 1,500 metres. You’ll feel welcome when you arrive on your cross-country skis at the area known as the Gastlosen Arena.
NATURAL ICE RINK
Whether young or old, everyone in the family can experience the highlight of skating. You can get the gear you need at the onsite rental.
